Amir Belson, M.D.


Amir Belson Founder

Prior to conceiving of and starting ZipLine Medical, Amir Belson, M.D. founded NeoGuide Systems, a company that developed a platform technology for minimally invasive surgical procedures.  NeoGuide was acquired by Intuitive Surgical in 2009. Dr. Belson founded Vascular Pathways, a company that developed an FDA cleared vascular intervention technology that has been chosen as one of the 10 best inventions of 2009 by Popular Science magazine.  Vascular Pathways was acquired by C.R. Bard in 2015.  Dr. Belson also founded Qool, which is developing innovative therapeutic hypothermia technology, Radiaction, which is developing radiation protection for healthcare providers, and Emboline, which is developing emolic protection technology for TAVI and other interventional cardiology procedures.

Dr. Belson graduated cum laude from the school of medicine of the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, in Haifa, Israel. He completed his pediatric residency at Dana Children’s Hospital in Tel Aviv and his pediatric nephrology fellowship at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University. He also served several years as a flight surgeon in the IDF air force rescue unit before moving to the US for a three year Pediatric Nephrology fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center. Dr. Belson also spent one year as a research fellow with the Biomedical Technology Innovation Program at Stanford.

John Tighe

President and CEO

John Tighe, President and CEO

John R. Tighe serves as Chief Executive Officer and President of ZipLine Medical. He also serves as a member of ZipLine’s board of directors. Prior to joining ZipLine, he was the CEO and president of PEAK Surgical, Inc. from 2006 to 2011. He was the first employee and also served as a Director of PEAK Surgical until their acquisition by Medtronic in 2011. Mr. Tighe has over 22 years of experience in the medical device industry and has worldwide commercialization experience in several medical specialties, including orthopaedics, ENT, and general surgery. Prior to PEAK Surgical he was Senior Vice President and General Manager of all business units for ArthroCare Corporation, where he worked for eleven years. Before that, he served as national sales manager for Acufex Microsurgical, where he worked in various sales and management roles over a seven year period. Mr. Tighe holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland.

Eric Storne

Vice President of Marketing

Eric Storne, Vice President, Marketing

Eric Storne is the Vice President of Marketing for ZipLine Medical. Mr. Storne has more than twenty years of product marketing experience, with the last seventeen spent in the medical device industry. He was most recently Vice President of Marketing for NeoGuide Systems, a company that developed platform robotics technology for minimally invasive surgical procedures that was acquired by Intuitive Surgical in 2009. While at NeoGuide, his responsibilities included market development, product definition and advisory board management. Prior to that, he held marketing leadership positions with Carl Zeiss Meditec and Sunrise Technologies, Inc., as well as marketing and engineering positions at KLA-Tencor, Kaiser Electronics and General Electric. Mr. Storne holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Optical Engineering from the University of Rochester and a M.B.A. from Santa Clara University.

Lori Perpich-Muñoz

Vice President of Finance, CFO

Lori Perpich-Muñoz is the Vice President of Finance, CFO for ZipLine Medical. Ms. Muñoz has over twenty years of experience in a variety of financial and accounting positions in the medical device industry for both public and private companies. Most recently, she was Vice President, Finance for Medtronic’s Advanced Energy Division. In her role with Medtronic, she was responsible for general management and leading the integration activities of PEAK Surgical after the acquisition by Medtronic in 2011. From 2007 to 2011 she was Vice President of Finance and Administration, CFO for PEAK Surgical, Inc. She has held senior level finance and accounting positions with Paracor Medical, ArthroCare Corporation, W.L. Gore and Associates, Prograft Medical, Inc. and Target Therapeutics, Inc. Lori attended University of Phoenix and Robert Morris College and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. In addition she has completed the Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Program.

Daren Stewart

Director of Research and Development

Daren Stewart is the Director of Research and Development for ZipLine Medical. Mr. Stewart has over 26 years of experience developing medical devices from the startup phase to consistently successful commercialized and CE Mark product launches. He was most recently Project Manager of Research and Development at Pivot Medical (acquired by Stryker in 2014) where he led the development of the company’s disposable hip arthroscopy instruments. Prior to Pivot, Mr. Stewart was Engineering Manager at Spinal Kinetics Corporation where he managed the design and development of their Anterior Lumbar Disk Replacement. Previously Mr. Stewart has held product development positions at Xoft Microtube, Sanarus Medical, Hemox Therapeutics, Oratec Interventions (IPO and subsequent acquisition by Smith and Nephew), Indigo Medical Incorporated (acquired by Johnson and Johnson), and Medical Innovations Corporation (acquired by Ballard Medical). Mr. Stewart graduated with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management from Santa Clara University.

Trish Howell

Vice President of Operations

Trish Howell is the Vice President of Operations at Zipline Medical, Inc. Ms. Howell has nearly 30 years’ experience leading Operations functions in multiple industries. Most recently, Trish served as Vice President of Operations at Pulmonx where she led Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain for the company’s diagnostic device and therapeutic implant products for Interventional Pulmonology. Prior to Pulmonx, she served as Vice President of Materials Management at ArthroCare Corporation, scaling the global logistics infrastructure and launching a greenfield manufacturing facility in Costa Rica. From 1988 to 2003, Trish spent 15 years in the automotive industry, predominantly with Ford Motor Company in roles of increasing responsibility in Product Development, Process Engineering, and Supply Chain. She holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA in Finance from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

Steve Lotz

Vice President of Sales

Steve Lotz is the Vice President of Sales at ZipLine Medical, Inc. Mr. Lotz has over 15 years of experience in the medical device industry. Most recently, he was the Southern Regional Manager at Knee Creations, LLC (acquired by Zimmer Holdings, Inc.). Prior to Knee Creations, he was the Eastern Regional Manager at PEAK Surgical, Inc. (acquired by Medtronic). Before that, he held management and sales positions at ArthroCare Corporation and Smith & Nephew Endoscopy. Mr. Lotz holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the University of South Florida.
