Why stitch it, when you can

The Zip device is a non-invasive skin closure designed to improve your recovery experience after hip and knee surgeries.

  • No painful stitches or removal1
  • No punctures that may allow bacteria into the wound site
  • Less scarring than staples, no track marks2
Find out how to get Zip for your procedure

“Patients are more excited to get moving, not fearful of causing additional pain and damage with staples in the skin. The Zip gives confidence without worry about rupturing anything ”

– Kaitlyn Stiefvater, physician assistant, MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital

Zip VS. Staples
  • Better scarring outcome vs. staples2
  • Less patient pain vs. staples2 and sutures1
  • Fewer wound problems3
  • Easier recovery4

The Zip is non-invasive, and uses two flexible, non-latex adhesive strips on either side of the incision. These straps are linked by patented closure system to gently distribute forces and precisely align the edges of your incision to close it securely.

The Zip is non-invasive and flexible, and therefore does not create the pulling and pinching that can come from stitches and staples. In a clinical study of patients undergoing total knee replacement, patients reported greater range of motion with the Zip.4

Because the Zip functions as a “cage” over the wound, it protects the wound from disturbance.

Easy Removal

Removal is as easy as peeling off a bandage; in fact, your doctor may recommend that you remove the Zip at home rather than scheduling a special clinic visit just for removal. Studies have shown the Zip is much more comfortable than removing staples.1

Minimal Scarring

The resulting scar can be much less noticeable than stitches or staples, as the Zip eliminates the possibility of “track marks” along your scar.2 This can be a real benefit when your scar is on a visible part of your body.
